Addressing Anxiety & Restoring Resilience

This four week programme will provide parents/carers with tools to promote wellbeing and encourage discussions using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach.

Research shows that CBT is the most effective form of treatment for those coping with depression and anxiety. CBT alone is 50-75% effective for overcoming depression and anxiety and can provide individuals with techniques to manage anxiety and start to recover their confidence.

Studies have highlighted that resilience is an important predictor in mental health. In recent years levels of resilience in children and young people has been in decline. An adolescent who is resilient is likely to enter adulthood with a good chance of coping well— even if he or she has experienced difficult circumstances in life. Therefore, developing emotional resilience is vital in increasing overall wellbeing.

Having just completed the Wishing Well Retreat's Addressing Anxiety and Restoring Resilience four-week programme, I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. The content was detailed enough to give parents/carers an insight into depression, anxiety and self-esteem, but was practical enough to equip them with tools to support their child. Lauren was extremely organised and her resources and handout were engaging. Lauren is a very knowledgeable professional, yet she is very approachable and down to earth; parents warmed to her week after week.
